Zellers t-shirt in "Club Z" red

Regular price $30.00

Founded in 1931 and at one point boasting 350 stores across Canada, Zellers had a good run.

A discount department store, their slogan was "Where the lowest price is the law", their mascot was Zeddy (a teddy bear), and your parents likely collected Club Z points in the 80s and 90s.

At one point Fields department stores bought Zellers and Vancouver businessman Joseph Segal (Fields' founder) was appointed president. It was quickly sold to the Hudson's Bay Company who ran it until the bitter end.

In 2011, 220 Zellers stores were sold to Target and converted as the American chain made a failed attempt at breaking into the Canadian market.

In 2012, CBC's Marketplace crowned Zellers as "Canada's Worst Customer Service" for department stores, as they were winding down their operations. Their last B.C. store closed its doors in 2013.
