Launched in 1964, Stardust had three roller skating rinks operating in the Lower Mainland at their high point in the 1980s - Richmond, Surrey and North Vancouver. In one year they grossed $1.5 million from the operations.
The name was inspired by the Las Vegas casino, and they marketed themselves as "A swingin' place to meet people"
Not just a roller rink, they also hosted music acts such as Sweeney Todd, Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Heart.
The location on the north shore closed in 1983, with the Richmond rink closing soon after. The Surrey rink was able to keep its doors open until 2005.
