The blob of Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park (technically a Pectinatella Magnifica bryozoan) put Vancouver on the map in terms of weird science stuff.
Featured in National Geographic, Popular Science and other international media, Martha Perkins of the Vancouver Courier newspaper went viral with her piece about the "Fascinating 'blob' colony found in Lost Lagoon".
The gooey blob was discovered in a biofiltration pond in Stanley Park in the summer of 2017 and was roughly the size of a deflated basketball. More than one, it was revealed that there was actually a colony of the rare organisms which date back thousands of years.
It's believed that the blob somehow made its way to British Columbia after a long journey from the Mississippi.
This t-shirt is an ode to the blob.
